PW Building Services have an outstanding track record in the design and installation of M&E and associated services in telecommunications switches, data centres and co-locate facilities. Data centres, switches and co-locate areas are some of the most intensively serviced elements of any commercial fit-out project with the design and specification of their building services involving a careful balance between requirements for protection, redundancy and back-up on the one hand, and plant space and initial capital cost on the other.
PW Building Services’ experience in this field as outlined below gives our clients a head start in delivering their projects by us ensuring that issues related to procurement, co-ordination of site works and testing are carefully considered and planned to guarantee that the data installation which follows on can be completed on programme.
Generally electrical installation requirements are based around a loads requirement of 1000-1200 W/m2 allowing capacity for expansion of voice and data services. Redundancy criteria usually no greater than n+1 provide an appropriate level of resilience for most users. It is also critical to freeze design early in the project as major infrastructure plant items usually have far longer lead times than network equipment and cabling.
